Intercontinental Mar Menor

Costa Calida, Murcia, Spain

Polaris World turned to LHL in planning the luxury hotel at the centre of its new Mar Menor Golf Resort, south of Alicante. Around the hotel lies a spectacular golf course designed by Arnold Palmer, and each of the generous, 55sqm guestrooms enjoys a balcony and views across the fairways or pool.

Our client’s vision was of an exclusive enclave that offered uninterrupted comfort and every kind of contemporary amenity, in a style that reflected its location. With its coloured walls, colonnades and tiled roofs, the hotel is a modern reflection of traditional Andalucian architecture. Our guestroom interiors continue the theme with terracotta tile floors, rustic timber casegood furniture and the finest linen.

In the lobby, warm, welcoming Mediterranean colours add to an atmosphere that takes guests’ breath away when they enter.

For the resort’s award-winning ESPA spa, we drew on Moorish references, with antique wooden entry doors, a dark, earthy colour scheme, cool, stone walls and traditional Moorish lanterns evoking an exotic sense of location in the pool rooms, treatment rooms, showers and changing rooms. Beyond the hotel and spa, we designed all of the restaurants, the clubhouse, the ballroom and kids club, to create a seamless, sumptuous world within a world.
