Brompton Bar & Grill

Brompton Road, London

Brompton Road, London Brompton Bar & Grill calls itself “Knightsbridge’s local bistro”. It is the brainchild of chef Francois O’Neill: an English brasserie with a relaxed but sophisticated atmosphere in which to enjoy a cocktail, wine or steak and watch the world go by.

Our refurbishment of the restaurant started with a reorganisation: the bar was relocated and extended to make it more of a centre point, parallel to the leather banquette seating that runs the length of the room. The bar itself received a new zinc top and a new back bar with an inset sink for chilled champagne. New distressed oak flooring was laid and, with a limited budget in mind, we kept the bentwood chairs but reupholstered them in faux black leather.

The walls were painted in a cool, muted tone and cornices picked out in high gloss white. An eclectic selection of art and cartoons, hung salon-style, captures the brasserie mood, and striking, art deco-style chrome pendant lights add some 1930s glamour. On the London restaurant scene, Brompton Bar & Grill is an English classic in the making.
